NEWSLETTER Message of the President
Greetings and welcome to our newsletters first issue. Despite economic crisis looming over us, this year promises to be a good one for the Filipino Community of Guam. We may not: gather- nearly the amount of money we had raised last year but we will gain great stride in making positive changes in the areas of concern which have been long overdue. Our Constitution and By Laws will be given rnuch needed attention. A complete overhaul is required to keep abreast with the present and allowances for the future. In a few months, a new draft wili be presented to the new membership for ratification. With the money set aside for the clubhouse, a comnnittee will be formed to expedite constructior!. Before the year is over we will be able to have our first board meeting in our new home. The money is only enough for the portion of the whole project. A lot of fundraising activities are required before cornpletion is I realized. There will be a persistent effort to prornote our cultural heritage. This is accomplish through the following approaches: 1 ) Filipiniana costumes are encouraged in, activitis. 2) Cultural/ Tribal folk songs and dance will be encouraged and will be given priority of perfrmance wheneve possible. 3) Showcasing the many good features of our Motherland in programs 4) Encouragement of our youth to participate in our activities where the above are used or shown. 5) Promotional programs to visit/revisit our homeland to trace our roots, learn our history, the culture the people and the beauty of the Philippines. We welcome suggestions to bring about the success in our FCG activities. Should you have any, please give us a call or drop us a line. Thank You.
